JAMB Announces Rescheduling of 2023 Mock-UTME Exam Date

A change in the date for the governorship and state house of assembly elections necessitated a rescheduling of the 2023 Mock-UTME exam by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The Mock-UTME is an optional exam that gives applicants experience using the system firsthand and enables the Board to determine whether or not it is ready for the Main UTME.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the rescheduling of the 2023 Mock-UTME earlier slated for March 16, 2023, to March 30, 2023. This announcement was made by JAMB spokesman Fabian Benjamin in a statement.

Reason for the Date Change

The shift in date was due to the change in the date for the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly Elections, which was earlier scheduled for March 11, 2023, but has now been moved to March 18, 2023.

Mock-UTME Exam Details

The Mock-UTME is an optional examination introduced by the Board to provide candidates with hands-on experience with the system. It also affords the Board an opportunity to ascertain its readiness and that of its partners for the main UTME, which is scheduled to hold between April 29 and May 12, 2023.

Notification for Candidates

When to print their Mock-UTME notification slip, which will contain their centres and other details, will be announced to candidates who enrolled early and expressed their readiness to take the Mock-UTME.

Groundbreaking Innovations

The Board also announced that this year’s UTME would witness some groundbreaking innovations aimed at addressing observed infractions and centre failures. The innovations include the cancellation of any session that experiences a delay of up to one hour before commencement, no examination starting one hour after the scheduled commencement time, and notification of candidates’ new scheduled session or centre if there is a cancellation.

Candidates are also expected to spend no less than one hour before submitting their responses during the UTME, and login will be impossible after one hour of activation of the examination.

Rescheduled Exam Details

Candidates should not panic if an examination session is postponed or cancelled for whatever reason; they will simply be booked for the following session, which may be on the same day. Any rescheduled exam, however, is only intended to accommodate individuals whose examination session was unable to take place for one reason or another; it is not intended to accommodate those who were marked LATE or ABSENT for their examination session.

Applicants should be aware that they cannot leave the testing facility until they are informed of the new date and time for their test.
