ABU DAC Academic Calendar: First Semester
Commencing Your Semester: Registration and Lectures
The academic session commences with registration for new and returning students, starting from Wednesday, 3rd January to Friday, 19th January 2024. This is followed by a focused 10-week lecture period beginning on Monday, 22nd January 2024 and concluding on Thursday, 28th March 2024.
Embracing Cultural Celebrations and Academic Rigour
Acknowledge the cultural significance of Easter with a break starting Friday, 29th March to Saturday, 13th April 2024, before delving back into lectures. This break not only allows you to partake in festivities but also to rejuvenate for the final stretch of lectures from Monday, 15th April to Friday, 3rd May 2024.
Evaluating Your Progress: Examinations
As the semester progresses, you will be tested through examinations scheduled for two weeks, from Monday, 6th May to Saturday, 18th May 2024. Subsequently, the marking of exam scripts is slated for another two weeks, culminating on Saturday, 1st June 2024.
Central Board of Examiners Meeting
The Central Board of Examiners Meeting (CBE), an essential event in the academic calendar, is set for Thursday, 25th June 2024. This meeting is pivotal for validating results and ensuring academic standards are met.
ABU DAC Academic Calendar: Second Semester
Second Semester Lectures: The Learning Continues
After a well-deserved break, the second-semester lectures resume on Sunday, 2nd June 2024, extending for two weeks.
Eid-El Kabir Break
Respect the Eid-El Kabir celebrations with a one-week break from Monday, 17th June to Saturday, 22nd June 2024, a time for reflection and community engagement.
Lecture Period Extension
Post-break, lectures continue for a comprehensive 10-week period from Monday, 24th June to Friday, 30th August 2024.
Final Assessments: Exam and Project Defence
The semester culminates with examinations and project defence spanning three weeks from Monday, 2nd September to Saturday, 14th September 2024.
SIWES: Bridging Theory and Practice
For those enrolled in the Supervised Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), a 16-week period starting from Monday, 16th September to Thursday, 3rd December 2024 is allocated to bridge academic knowledge with practical industry experience.
Observing National Public Holidays
The academic calendar respects national public holidays, ensuring that you do not miss out on national celebrations and observances. These include but are not limited to Good Friday, Easter Monday, Eid-El Fitr, and Nigeria’s Independence Day.
